Reflections

I stopped halfway to the edge of the forest where the knight stood, not once having unlocked my gaze from Ella, “to Colagart. Come with me. Be by my side.”

I was stunned. “Margurka, I don’t know. If I go with you it means I have to stop searching for my parents, my home.” I wanted to be with him but I also wanted my family. “I care so deeply for you and I want to expore and discover how deep my feelings go, but wouldn’t we be rushing into this to quickly.” I cupped his face in my hands to bring him closer to kiss him again.

“If you come with me, you will have the resources of an Empire to find them,” I answered, “the resources of one of the most scientifically advanced civilizations in the galaxy. Our records of trade, immigration, astronomy, all lines of communication to help find your planet in the blink of an eye. Soldiers, scouts, spies to command, dedicated to your search. And most of all we will finally have time. If you come with me, there will no longer be anything holding us back from finally pursuing this. We will have time to be together.”

“We’ve been dancing around this from day one... Then I was doubtful about your feelings when you called me and my brother a mud-wader. I was confused during sparring club, you made me so angry when you kissed me all those years ago. And I just lost myself in you moments ago.” I kiss him lightly once more. “But if this weapon works the way you fear it might then most if not all the things you just promised me might never happen.” My heart ached at the thought of being cut off from everyone. “Please give me a week to say my goodbyes and wrap up lose ends. By then I should be ready to leave...”

I smiled nervously, knowing though she promised nothing, that at least there was a chance, “I understand. I will send for you at the week’s end, if I cannot escort you myself. For now I must leave. I’m sure the other leaders have likely returned by now, I will be needed.”

Pulling Ella close, I gave her one final, deep and longing kiss.

I kissed back feeling a little dizzy with all the changes I had to prepare for. “I’ll see you soon, sweetheart.” I said pulling away for a second and peaking his lips once more.

“I will be eagerly awaiting,” I backed away slowly, hesitant to pull my gaze from Ella. My eyes darted briefly to the scars on the ground around us, before looking back to Ella one final time. I turned, brushing past the knight, before disappearing into the forest towards the school.

I smiled touching my lips. They tingled with warmth and electricity. “I’ve got a lot of things to do before things are finalised...” I said and teleported away feeling a little giddy.
