A new home

Ambrose moved out of the small beach house five years ago when Ryker had asked him to move in. Now they lived together, along with the kids, on a 2,000 acre ranch set in the heart of Nevada. A good half of the land was covered in a thick pine forest. This allowed the kids to run about inside in their dragon form without being seen by humans. Ambrose and Jackson though had to stay in their human forms. Ambrose was too big to hide and Jackson had a habit of knocking trees over by accident. They owned a variety of earth animals including horses, cattle, goats, pigs and a few dogs. Jackson had adjusted to ranch life very quickly but it had taken Ambrose a while.

After getting dressed in my black overalls and white shirt underneath, I questioned if I looked good. Afterall today was the day I finally was going to meet my mom. I tried putting my silver white hair up and making it look nice and just got mad, “Why bother looking nice it’s not like she’s coming anyways.” I said to myself and just walked downstairs. I looked at my dad Ambrose, “Do I look nice? Not that I’m trying too look good for her, it’s just I don’t want to make a bad impression. What if she doesn’t like me? What if I don’t like her? What if I look hideous? Do I look like her? What’s she like?” I started to ramble on and on with so many questions that I started talking faster and faster.

I got out of a car that dropped me off in front of Ambrose’s house and was just amazed of how beautiful the place was. I saw from afar a young girl with silver white hair and from afar I saw how she had my bright purple eyes. “I hope I look human.” I said making sure I wasn’t in my dragon ex form. I was wearing black knee high boots with blue jeans and a black velvet blouse. I had my purple hair in a small ponytail since I recently cut it short. “This is as human as I can get. Apparently people love colored hair here,” I said to myself as I walked to Ambrose’s house. Still admiring the scenery for it was my first time on Earth. I stood right in front of the house and I clearly got their attention by staring at them. I didn’t know what to say.

I stopped talking when I saw a car pull up by my house and saw a woman with purple hair and eyes step out of the car and walked this way, “Dad!” I tugged on his shirt, “is that her?” I asked him still staying quiet as I stared back at her. I didn’t know what I was feeling: angry? Sad? Happy? But all I knew was that I was definitely confused about how to feel

"You look fine Ruby." He said as Jackson stood by his side holding his hand for support. Jackson stood at 6'4" and was of good build. His black hair was messy and a bit curly but looked quite charming. Although he had a few scars the copper dragon had a very friendly face. "Remember to be nice." He said gently in Ambrose's ear and he nodded. Aldrich was dressed in his favorite striped sweater and had tried to comb his hair. "Hello Athemise." Ambrose said in a civil enough tone. "This is my husband Jackson," Jackson gave her a polite bow witha warm smile. "Our son Aldrich and Ruby."

“It’s very nice to meet you Jackson.” I smiled and stared at Aldrich and Ruby and my eyes got watery, “Sorry, I get emotional easily,” I said and smiled, “Your home is lovely along with your kids. It’s my first time on earth so everything is so different from back home.” I then looked at Ruby. I wasn’t sure if I should hug her or pet her.

I kept staring at her and then looked at my dad and whispered, “Did she stare at people a lot back then too?” I saw her hesitating on whether she would hug me or not and decided to just go in for a hug.

As she quickly hugged me, I took the advantage on hugging her back and couldn’t stop smiling, “Is she always this affectionate?” I asked the guys. “Hi Ruby. I have so much to talk to you about that I don’t know where to begin!”

After hugging her for quite some time, I let her go, “Sorry. I just have been wanting to do that.” I said to her with a small smile, “I do have a couple questions so that works out great. We can stay here on the porch and talk. It’s a nice day today! Unless you want to go inside?” I asked her.

"We'll leave you two to talk." Ambrose said stifly as him and the rest went inside. Jackson fixed him a stiff drink and gave Aldrich a calming milk drink he fondly called "tigers milk". The three sat around the table talking quietly.

“We can stay here.” I said as the others just left and walked inside, “So what questions do you have in mind for me?” I asked her.
